The Future of Online Avertising (FOOA07NYC)

10:30am
So I am sitting at the Future of online advertising conference in NYC. Though I am not a marketer my self, I have worked within the ad market on and off for about 1o years. I find it pretty amazing that advertising is been going on for hundreds of years, but the best ads are only semi effective. Not being on the business or analytical side of the industry, this comes as a surprise. I never thought about the effectiveness of ads before. I know what effects me.
So far I am 2 speakers in and have learned a lot of information. I hope to bring some of this knowledge back to my company and maybe into some of my work experience.

Kim Malone from Google just got finished speaking and it is clear why Google is on top of the game. Google is in the process of adding a Cost Per Action (CPA) model for advertising online. Basically it works like this. I have a product that I am selling for $1,000. I offer to pay $50 to any ad that funnels a conversion to buy my product. So if someone click on my add, they got to the site, and buy my product. I would pay the site that caused the conversion $50. Seems like a good plan. Let’s see if the product provider actually pays.
